Why Google My Business Matters
93% of searches happen on Google. When someone searches "lashes in Portland," your Google Business Profile decides whether they find you โ or your competitor. A complete, verified listing gives you:
- Local visibility โ your business appears in local searches and on Google Maps, right where nearby clients are looking.
- Credibility and trust โ a verified listing signals professionalism and legitimacy, improving client confidence before they ever book.
- Client access to key information โ your hours, location, services, and contact details, accurate and easy to find.
- More traffic and conversions โ more website visits, calls, and bookings by positioning your brand where clients are already searching.
- A foundation for SEO โ once your profile is live, SEO strategy strengthens the connection between your brand, website, and Google to grow bookings even further.
Step 1: Business Name & Category
Go to business.google.com, click Manage now, and type in the business name you want to pop up in searches. Then choose your business category โ for lash artists, that's likely "Eyelash salon."
Step 2: Location Information
Add your suite or salon location.
Step 3: Contact Information
Remember: this phone number and website will be public. Use your business website or booking link here โ not a personal number you don't want circulating.
Step 4: Account Verification
Google will verify your business one of two ways: they'll either send you mail to verify your location, or they'll ask you to showcase your workspace in photos and videos.
Step 5: Working Hours
Add the hours you want clients to be serviced. Think of these three ways:
- These are your business hours.
- These are the hours you're okay with potential clients calling and texting you.
- These are the hours the public sees.

- Add service categories โ a primary category for your core service, plus secondary categories for everything else you offer.
- Encourage consistent reviews โ regular, authentic reviews signal to Google that your business is active and trusted, so you show up more often.
